The remains of King Zog brought home to Albania

The remains of King Zog of the Albanians, who died in exile in France in 1961, were exhumed at the Cimetière de Thiais in Paris on Wednesday 14 November 2012 and flown to Tirana, Albania the day after. The interment will take place at the royal mausoleum in Tirana on Saturday 17 November, with King Zog's grandson Prince Leka (II) and many Albanian officials present.

  2. The president, the prime minister and I think also the speaker of parliament (but my understanding of Albanian is very limited!) were present. The political left boycotted the funeral, though. The president of Kosovo was also present.

  3. It was interesting to read that Prince Leka is an aide to the President. I know he has been active in public life for a few years now. It will be interesting to see how his career develops, and whether he manages to build some sort of following.
